Head cannon conversation between old acquaintances.

Duangrat Chadee walked into the tea house run by Ye Bai Yi. Mink, her trusty pseudodragon sat on her shoulders quietly guiding her way. The old monk had officially retired from the Court of a Thousand Blossoms, but still acted as a waypoint for the organization. Seeing her enter, he sighed. He passed a glance at a server whom rushed over to seat her in a small alcove to the main floor of the restaurant. The alcove was closed off by a fine-beaded curtain that cleverly interfered with anyone trying to lip read a conversation within the alcove, but allowed clear visibility to anyone within. The curtain also marked the border of an intricate cone of obfuscation. The alcove was made in such a way, that when the cone was not activated, the natural construction of the alcove provided plenty sight and sound dampening properties. After she was situated in the booth, Duangrat looked around the booth for a tell tale engraving on the wall her table rested against. Finding the engraving, she whispe...

From the Journal of Erha of Kush

When I first arrived in this land, I had no hope of returning to my life in Kush. Though I had been branded a traitor, I still longed to return to my life outside these accursed lands. Strung up and left to die on a sandblasted crucifix, I thought of all the cruel ways to get revenge while I began to rot away. Until a mysterious stranger, whom I now know is Conan, the legendary warrior king, freed me and gave me a chance to prove my strength to myself and the world. Not long after, I found my way to a fertile river and came across a couple of women warriors, Riven and Sabine. Instead of becoming rivals, we became friends and bonded over our love of bloodlust and women.  The three of us made our way to the lush highlands north of the desert, away from the omnipresent Sandstorm that regularly sweeps the land. I've explored most of the lands bound by this strange glowing death wall and found a few safe harbors where other exiles have come to accept their fate and try to thrive b...

Previously on The Gathering Shadow

Last time, The Rat Pack left Crankshaft behind for the gem and capital of the Soluene Empire, Elthaya. But dark clouds were on the horizon for our heroes as a storm enveloped them, bringing a flight of dragons! With Gruhk set to pounce and Kexing set to puree the airship with its crew survived the stormy night. Will there be only clear skies in the future for our heroes? Will they have enough poise and regality for their Imperial Summons? Each time Yalth brings a bag of holding into his pocket dimension is an entire universe destroyed? Find out tonight, on... We are not a group of murder hobos

Last time, the group lured the entire duergar fortress into the main courtyard, and Kexing eliminated over half of the duergar singlehandedly. This week, the group explored the now empty (or so we thought) fortress. Went around and found murder staircase and was SURE there was a door but well dems the breaks and kexing force moved the staircase back into position so that he and zhou xu could leave. Pulling the middle lever revealed the passage and the 1st and 3rd levers filled the room with bad stuff. When Skel E Ton disappeared after pulling the 3rd lever, Zhou Xu was uncharacteristically impatient and went in to pull the 3rd lever. After getting gassed, and a sever bitchout session from Kexing about running headlong into danger when he's so fragile. In the captain's room, we found a few journals and learned that Aradoon cultists came to the mines about a year ago where they could do their hunting. There's a treasure vault below the armory. But we need to pull all three l...

Previously on Portents of Shadows

Last time The Rat Pack, with a devil, may care attitude, forced their way into the Duergar Fortress to obtain more information on Aradoon's project "Gathering." After breaking and entering, our heroes proceeded to confuse the fortress' inhabitants with talks of peace while murdering anyone who attempted to defend their home. Waves of dwarves fell to the mighty raider's bloodlust until all that remained was the Deurgar Captain and her loyal guards. Amongst all the dead, will Yalth be able to choose just one? Is Gruhk "Sad" he didn't get to make any friends, and just how many plum blossoms can Kexing exude each day? Find out tonight on... The Gathering Shadow! -- the GM

The Party: Kexing - Aasimar - Kineticist (the "slightly" insane face and tank of the group) Zhou - Aasimar - Investigator (the rogish know it all that keeps Kexing from temper tantrums that can level cities) Gruhk - Orc - Barbarian (the light hearted one of the group with a very big axe off-tank) Yalth - Ratfolk - Oracle (likes undead things) Memphis - Halfling - Sorcerer (think's he's the sensible one) Gruhk's player couldn't make it for tonight's session, so he's mysteriously absent for the day's events. Paraphrased exchange for the latest encounter... GM : once you cross the drawbridge you see the path blocked by a portcullis. Inside the main gate area are 2 slits on each side. Yalth : I'll send my skeleton minion forward and see what happens Memphis : I'm going to walk up behind the skeleton for cover. (other players at the table) : virtually look at each other... Kexing: sure go ahead (confused why the squishiest one is heading into th...

Portents of Shadows - Notes (Kexing)

We sat high up on the rocks above the large goblin camp and stealthily pelted them with pebbles and sowed much chaos amongst their ranks. One of the goblins, appearing to be some sort of alchemical religious figure began burning the bodies we pelted. Any that were not immediately killed were thrown upon the campfires.  Eventually, their leader came out and conferred with the religious leader, I killed a goblin standing right next to him. This seemed to re-affirm whatever the religious leader said. My companion, Memphis, flung a sling bullet at another, injuring it. At this point, 15 goblins had died either by our hands or the goblins themselves.  We inferred that they believed the camp was cursed and they all fled across the river and into the hills. I gave chase silently trying to keep track of their leaders, however, tracking is not my skill and I had to give up the chase.  While I was out, Memphis and Grimm scoured the camp for loot. I'm glad they did all the dir...
